We are the Pelly twins and we started Arts for Awareness. Be sure to let us know of all Arts for Awareness events :-)

ARTS FOR AWARENESSTM started as our Girl Scout Gold Award project in September 2006, and has since evolved into an ethical mission far surpassing any of our initial imaginings. The goal of the project was to combine local art displays and music showcases (things that people are naturally attracted to and enjoy) with education.  We hosted our first Arts for Awareness at Massapequa High School on February 3rd, 2007. Myriad organizations and activists were present at the event, raising awareness of some of today’s more prevalent issues and medical dilemmas. We felt that such an event was essential in our suburban community, where many young people often admit to feeling sheltered from worldly issues and crises.

When our friends from Wantagh High School asked us about setting up an "Arts for Awareness" at their high school, we thought, "All high schools should be having these events!"  Thus, we created this website to serve as a catalyst.  This is our tutorial.  We hope it is of use to all of you high school student activists out there.  For more information on us, check out our personal websites: lizpelly.com and jenniferpelly.com or look us up on Facebook (Liz Pelly & Jennifer Pelly).
