There are tons of ways to plan your "Arts for Awareness," but here are some tips for success to use throughout your school:

  • Get your school involved: newspaper, radio, etc.
  • Hang up flyers! Raise awareness of Arts for Awareness.
  • Free food will always draw people in! Don't forget to advertise "free food" on the flyers.
  • Activity tables are a good way to keep people's attention.  For example, you can have tables where visitors can make cards for hospital patients, play educational games, etc.
  • Keep it free! It will be tempting to ask for donations to causes, but that's taking the easy way out. Remember that the event is your cause: spreading knowledge is your objective, not raising money. Hope that people will leave your event knowing the importance of the causing, and how they should help (i.e. donate money) in the future.
  • If you do find yourself needing money, with no additional sources of donations, there is a simple solution: recycle! Although one can is only redeemable for five cents, all of the cans from your schools cafeteria will add up.
  • If someone volunteers to help out, make sure they are recognized for it.  Present participants with official community service certificates, recognizing their involvement.  Include their name, how they helped, and how many hours they helped for.
  • If you ever need help with your event, the founders of Arts for Awareness are more than willing to help :-) Feel free to contact us for anything.
